Incorrect focus

 

I parked underneath the beach ball for the Pensacola Beach Run on saturday. I chose the 10k option and started to question my sanity towards the end. Anyway, I decided to post a picture of the beach ball since I could see it pretty much the whole 2nd half of the run. I kept looking up at it, knowing that it marked the location of my car and when/if I made it to the ball it would be all over.
Darn it if the friggin thing seemed to never get much closer. oh well, I guess I should have chosen something else to focus on. It still seemed far away after I crossed the finish line.

Oh well.

Godfeather

 

"Don't ever go against the flock"

The "Godfeather" lives down at Portofino towards the back of the pool/spa area. Wow, that place is a trip. I'm willing to bet that some of the old people that live there actually get lost in the small maze of streets and identical buildings. Is it just me, or are they *too* flashy? I'm glad Portofino is way down at the east end of the beach where I never go.
I'll give them some serious props for thier pools and hottubs though. The "spa" area is beautiful and made us all wish we had on our swimsuits. We are definitely going to crash it at least once this summer.

This one seems a bit odd to me, but who am I to judge someone else's art? Would you call it a pelicog or a dogican? I'm just glad that we managed to find it. It's carefully tucked into the front yard of a private residence on Pensacola beach.

Peli-Scotsman

 

This scottish looking pelican lives in front of the Hampton Inn on Pensacola Beach. Has someone stolen his blade or is the scabbard a decoration added by a young pirate visiting the island? Oddly, he is not pictured in the 'gallery of pelicans' at the 'pelicans in paradise' website but he is pictured on the location map. There seems to be more to the story that this pelican tells. It may merit further investigation.

Patriotic Pappy

 

I have big news today regarding the photo adventure we decided to undergo this year. First, we have given it a name: "Project Pelican". Second, we are extremely pleased to announce that we have added another member to our all volunteer staff. Her enthusiasm, keen eye and knowledge of the Pensacola area will surely prove to be an invaluable resource. Welcome aboard!

Together, we found four more today on a short day trip to Pensacola Beach. Pictured here is "Patriotic Pappy." He lives out in front of Gulfbreeze Middle School.

And, for those of you that don't know, my best friend since 6th grade could also be called "Patriotic Pappy." Semper Fi brother.

Another day in paradise

 

Welcome to another year! Isn't it nice to be optimistic about all of the promise and hope that the coming of a new year brings? I know we are ready for 2009. We are thankful for all the of the great friends and family who make our lives enjoyable. We look forward to spending time with each of you in 2009.
Living in Navarre (or anywhere on the beautiful gulf coast) is wonderful and we have to remember that we are truly blessed and that each and every day is another day in paradise.
